This is EXACTLY how I feel when I attempt to cook.
And right now, I'm totally using the fact that Cole won't stop pulling things out of the Lazy Susan as my lame excuse to not cook ... I HATE this stage of repeatedly having to pick the same things up and put away - can't get anything done!
LAZY Susan, my ass!!
Congratulations to Dallas & North Pocono- the only schools in Luzerne/Lackawanna Co's to make list! Not too shabby, considering there are areas (Lehigh Valley, for instance) that didn't have any schools listed. Philadelphia suburbs had the most high schools in PA on the list ... congrats to my alma mater: Wissahickon High School !
I was really hoping more schools would be listed in NEPA, were you? I was surprised Lehman didn't make it (go easy on them, Dallas!), nor Abington Heights (btw, Abington High, outside of Philly, made the list, not to be confused with AH in Clarks Summit)
Which public high schools do you think got robbed?
I was so touched when I received my FIRST handmade (literally!) gift from my 15 month old son, Cole. It's a flower, made with the imprints of his hands ...
...althooooough, I'm still trying to figure out what body part imprint made the leaves?!!!
C'mon, you wondered, too.
A Facebook friend innocently told me it's his fist and thumb. Ohhhhhhh!! HAHAHA! Whew. I thought I was going to have to call authorities!!
Enjoy your handmade gifts, Moms!!!
May your gifts bring a smile, even a laugh, to your day.
Happy Mother's Day!

Do you think you have one of the best jobs, or do you have to drag yourself to your miserable job?
CareerCast.com ranked the 200 most popular jobs in the U.S., ranked from best to worst, based on these categories:
physical demands, work environment, income, stress, and hiring outlook.
BEST JOB: ACTUARY (what now?!!)
I had to look that up, too. An actuary calculates financial risks, usually for an insurance company or a big business. It's a high-paying, stable job.
WORST JOB: NEWSPAPER REPORTER
Ranked bottom of the list at #200 because the hiring outlook is low, and even if you land a job, it doesn't pay well.
I looked up a DJ: #179 out of 200. Hmmm. Bet you thought it was higher!
Hiring outlook is low, and (believe it or not!) income is on the lower scale. (We work for concert tix!!)
I love notes. I save practically every one of the thoughtful scribbles from my hubby. He usually leaves them in my lunch bag, like this one taped to some left-over chicken (He clearly wrote this before we left on the FROGGY Caribbean Cruise):
Selener,
Caribbean Jerk Chicken;
Practice for the real thing.
When we go to the Caribbean,
I hope we meet a real jerk ... who's a chicken. xoxo Ethan & "Stay-at-home" Cole
Love it. Poetry.
Apparently, my husband passed his talent on to our 14 month old son.
Today I found this:
I love how he reminds me to chew. That's one of his favorite words, since we have to remind him every time he shoves food in his mouth like a chipmunk.

All I wanted to eat was some oatmeal - easy enough. I took a bite, and it tasted chalky. I turned Mr Quaker Oat over to check the expiration, and it says: JAN 16 10L241/T What does that mean?!!!!
Is it best before JANUARY 2016, or should I have thrown it out three years ago, on JANUARY 16, 2010?
People were adamant in their replies on-air and on Facebook, too: "Duh, Selena, the "10" is clearly part of the batch code. It doesn't expire til 2016." ...oh, so I'm THAT bad of a cook, I can't even microwave oats and water.
After trying to research online and just finding other idiots like me trying to rationalize food product codes, I finally called Mr. Quaker Oat himself. Actually, his name was Hilton, and he sounded more like the Pepperidge Farm cookie guy. I wanted to adopted him as my new Grand Pappy.
Pappy Hilton confirmed that its "BEST OF" date (God forbid you utter "expire"; that curse word is NOT in Quaker Oats' vernacular) is, indeed:
JANUARY 16, 2010 !!!!!!
Yes, for those of you who thought, "what a simpleton, she doesn't know what batch codes are..." Turns out, that "10" attached to that weird code IS IN FACT THE YEAR IT'S BEST BY.
It tasted awful for a reason; thankfully, that reason wasn't me.
Even Pappy Hilton suggested I throw it out. I swear, if he could, he would have offered me a Milano cookie through the phone to make up for it.
Went to the grocery store and asked if they sold Matzah. Both workers behind the customer service desk looked at me like I had two heads. Should have known - it's the same store I asked for Lox, and they sent me to the hardware aisle...
