Are you a kid of the 80's?

If you instantly knew this was a still from the Saturday cartoon hit "Muppet Babies", then you very likely are a child of the 80's (or a mom of a 30-something year old!) I can't believe how many people fell in love with this show. It always creeped me out!! You never saw the nanny's face, only her retched striped socks that she NEVER changed. And those poor lil muppets never went outside -- except for one episode (probably b/c viewing mom's complained!). No wonder they were forced to use their imagination!!

Click on the pic above to enter the world of the 80's as you remembered it -- what's your favorite? Mine were the Scratch n Sniff Stickers - I think I had them all in my cherished sticker book, except the Plumb one!

What did you feed my kid?!!

Do you trust the grandparents?

My parents took care of our 16 month old son while my husband & I were on vacation. They hate to cook (as do I!!), so I stocked the fridge with plenty of healthy pre-made meals and fresh food. I came home to find NOTHING touched! I asked them what they fed him, they said, "oh, he just loves Chinese takeout and Subway tuna hoagies...". !!!!!! Awesome.

They pumped my toddler full of MSG and sodium for a week.

Thanks for all the crazy grandparent stories on The Wake Up Call w/ Eric&Selena! We couldn't believe one mom finding her kids being handed knives by grandma to play in the backyard!!! To Grandma's credit, there were FOUR kids ... that's just too many. Way to teach survival of the fittest, Grandma!

The best calls were from the grandma's themselves defending their honor: One was proud of giving the grandkids chocolate milk and DORITOS for BREAKFAST. "Hey, there's corn in that....they're covered" !!!!!

Taking the pet on a trip? DON'T DO IT!!

I visited my sis in New Orleans, who's moving home to Philly this summer.  I offered to fly her cat home so Fuzzybutt wouldn't have to suffer the road-trip ordeal.

Can you believe it cost $125 (one-way!) for the cat to be shoved under the seat in front of me?!!

No pretzels. No water.  Nuthin. What a scam.  Even a child can sit on your lap FOR FREE.

Plus, I felt like an outlaw going through security: they make you hold a clawing, squirming cat while they swab your hands for traces of explosives.  Yup, cats can be terrorists, too.

The best - the evil eye from the grouchy passenger that "can't BELIEVE they'd let a cat on the plane! What if I'm allergic?!"  He wasn't. Just an ass.

I'll NEVER do that again.

This is my inner child ....

This is EXACTLY how I feel when I attempt to cook.
And right now, I'm totally using the fact that Cole won't stop pulling things out of the Lazy Susan as my lame excuse to not cook ... I HATE this stage of repeatedly having to pick the same things up and put away - can't get anything done!
LAZY Susan, my ass!!

Does your high school deserve to be on the "best of" list?

77 Pennsylvania schools made the list of the top 2,000 public high schools in America - is yours on the list?
(check here:)
http://www.thedailybeast.com/newsweek/2013/05/06/america-s-best-high-schools.html

Congratulations to Dallas & North Pocono- the only schools in Luzerne/Lackawanna Co's to make list!  Not too shabby, considering there are areas (Lehigh Valley, for instance) that didn't have any schools listed.  Philadelphia suburbs had the most high schools in PA on the list ... congrats to my alma mater: Wissahickon High School !

I was really hoping more schools would be listed in NEPA, were you?  I was surprised Lehman didn't make it (go easy on them, Dallas!), nor Abington Heights (btw, Abington High, outside of Philly, made the list, not to be confused with AH in Clarks Summit)

Which public high schools do you think got robbed?

I may be a mom, but I think like a 12 yr old boy ...

I was so touched when I received my FIRST handmade (literally!) gift from my 15 month old son, Cole.  It's a flower, made with the imprints of his hands ...

...althooooough, I'm still trying to figure out what body part imprint made the leaves?!!!

C'mon, you wondered, too.

A Facebook friend innocently told me it's his fist and thumb.  Ohhhhhhh!!  HAHAHA!  Whew.  I thought I was going to have to call authorities!!

Enjoy your handmade gifts, Moms!!!
May your gifts bring a smile, even a laugh, to your day.
Happy Mother's Day!

Where does your job rank?

Do you think you have one of the best jobs, or do you have to drag yourself to your miserable job?

CareerCast.com ranked the 200 most popular jobs in the U.S., ranked from best to worst, based on these categories:
physical demands, work environment, income, stress, and hiring outlook.

BEST JOB:  ACTUARY  (what now?!!)

I had to look that up, too.  An actuary calculates financial risks, usually for an insurance company or a big business.  It's a high-paying, stable job.

WORST JOB: NEWSPAPER REPORTER

Ranked bottom of the list at #200 because the hiring outlook is low, and even if you land a job, it doesn't pay well.

I looked up a DJ:  #179 out of 200.  Hmmm.  Bet you thought it was higher!
Hiring outlook is low, and (believe it or not!) income is on the lower scale.  (We work for concert tix!!)
See where your job ranks - you may be surprised:  "Does My Job Rank UP?"
