Bangs... Sexy or Childish?

So, we all remember the great haircut of 2008... I was feeling daring and chopped it off! YIKES! I will never do that again, but I was getting bored so I had my stylist cut bangs for me. I'm on the fence (Crockett told me I look like I'm back in the 80s, Jake made fun of me... Yet, my girlfriends love them.) Is it just guys that find bangs un-sexy? Weigh in.

P.S. - Everybody's making fun of Sandra Bullock's bangs at the Golden Globe awards. I think she looks stunning.

How to keep a New Year's resolution!

Make it in front of over 1,000 people! That's what Gretchen Wilson did when she decided to stop smoking cigarettes. LOVE THIS STORY!

Description: http://www.blogcdn.com/www.theboot.com/media/2011/01/bekka-gretchen-456-010710.jpg

Fans who caught Gretchen's New Year's Eve show in Rosenberg, Texas, listened as she pledged to quit smoking, and then promptly lit -- and enjoyed -- what she insisted would be her last cigarette. After the concert, Gretchen tossed out her remaining cigarettes, lighters, ashtrays and other reminders of her long-time habit.

"I figured if I said it from stage in front of my fans, I'd stick to it. And so far I have," says the singer. Gretchen's back-up vocalist, singer/songwriter Bekka Bramlett (pictured above with Gretchen), was also on hand to witness the event as the Redneck Woman entered 2011 cigarette-free.

Here's to kicking butts in 2011!

What Not to Wear!

Can you believe my friend, Erin, got on the show? Check out the clip below.
P.S. - If you were to get on a reality show, which one would it be? I'd pick "The Biggest Loser."

Can I have your autograph?

Sitting here at the radio broadcast, our promotions guy, Paul, just announced he wants Easton Corbin's autograph... Then ripped out a piece of notebook paper... Ha. Really? Can we say cheesy?

MyTunes

Someone sent me this survey today. I had so much fun filling out! My answers are below. Copy the blank one and play along!

The 5 most important songs, albums or concerts and why they are/were so meaningful to you:

1. Mary Chapin Carpenter - "The Long Way Home"
Sometimes we all need a little reminder to slow down and enjoy the things that really matter in life. "Accidents and inspiration lead you to your destination" is one of the greatest song lyrics ever written.

2. Johnny Rivers - "Secret Agent Man"
This song plays a major role in one of my most vivid childhood memories. My dad would put this record on and I would stand on his feet and dance. It still stops me in my tracks when I hear it.

3. Billy Joel - "Only the Good Die Young"
This is my go-to song when I need a pick me up. How can you not smile while listening to it?

4. Eric Clapton - "Wonderful Tonight"
When I was in fourth grade, I decided this song would be my wedding song. I haven't changed my mind.

5. John Mellencamp - "I Need a Lover"
I own two concert hoodies - John Mellencamp is one of them. I've been a fan since I could remember... And c'mon, who can't relate to this song?

Bonus Questions:

A highly regarded song or album you've never heard: Oasis "Be Here Now"

An "important" piece of music you just don't get: Phish

An album you played or listened to incessantly: Eric Church "Carolina" and "The Essential Mary Chapin Carpenter" (I've played the CD so many times, it skips.)

One obscure or non-country song everyone should listen to right now: Melissa Etheridge "I Run For Life"

Now, it's your turn!

I run for life!

Not only a fantastic Melissa Etheridge song, but also something my friend, Jim, lives every day.  As you know, like Jim, I'm very passionate about finding a cure for cancer. Along with that comes fighting, researching, hoping, praying... and running! Jim, who is a Stage 4 Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma survivor, is about to run the Country Music Marathon in Nashville in April. His fundraising goal - $15,000! For more info on Jim's story or to help his cause, follow the link. http://pages.teamintraining.org/tn/cmc10/jasker

Now there's even a right way to blow my nose?!

I know the drill - I'm basically sick from the first day of October to the last day of April. Sure, I have a few good days, but for the most part, I can count out breathing through my nose. In an effort to alleviate a really bad congestion day today, I just got finished reading a 2 page article about how to most accurately fight a cold. Some of the suggestions were take antihistamines and keep your nasal passages open - one way to do that - learn to blow your nose "correctly." Maybe this is the key to success considering "only 2 percent of people know how to blow their nose correctly." Apparently, you're supposed to hold one nostril closed while you blow into a tissue for 3-5 seconds then repeat on the other side. Otherwise, an infection can occur. Not only is this good news for me but for others around me because I'm the loudest nose blower you'll ever meet! Ha. No blocked nasal passages AND no more embarrassing "honking"? I'll take it! ;-) Happy cold and flu season!

You know it's a good night when...

You wake up EXHAUSTED AND SORE! Ha! Of course, I'm talking about Guitars and Stars. What a great show, huh?? Phil Vassar, Jimmy Wayne, Kellie Pickler and Jason Michael Carroll ROCKED IT last night! Hopefully you caught the show... If not, another one coming in the spring, but I'd love to know who you think we should bring. On another side note - ladies, how HOT is Jason Michael Carroll in person? He takes an average picture but is SMOKIN' in person! Oh, and Kellie's red hair - doesn't she look like Kelly Ripa with it? So much to talk about, but thanks again to everyone who came out to the show!

30% off AND some extra Christmas present cash?

I'll take it!

I almost applied for a new job last night. Don't worry, I'm not leaving the Frog but let's face it, even though things have improved a bit, we're all still hurting just a tad. I admire parents making it work because I'm at the "selfish stage" of my life and I have a hard time nickel and dime-ing everything. I've decided it may be time to pick up a part time job for some discounts and extra Christmas present money. My job of choice - a "specialist" at Victoria's Secret. (Yes, I'm obsessed! Ha.)

There are a bunch of other great companies hiring for the holidays, as well... Here's a list of some of them:

Celebrate. Remember. Fight back.

The possibility of me having cancer at some point in my life outweighs the possibility of living a cancer free life. This is mainly based on genetics, as cancer is prominent in both my mother's and father's side of the family. I will have my first mammogram when I am 30 years old (10 years earlier than most women), as advised by my doctor,  because my mom had cancer. Unfortunately, she lost her battle, but I'm doing everything I can now to start using my weapons before war is even declared.

The most important thing a woman can do to stay on top of her health is do a monthly breast self exam. No one knows your body better than you do. To aid in that process, I found an amazing tool! It's small and comes in the form of jewelry - it's called a Breast Cancer Education Bracelet. Each bead on the bracelet represents a possible lump.  The largest bead is the size a mass in the breast is likely to be if a woman does not do monthly breast self exams and just notices the change in her breast one day. Smaller beads represent the average size of a cancer found by a mammogram and the average size of a mass found by a woman who performs monthly breast self exams. Not only is this a beautiful reminder to do breast self exams but a helpful tool!

Plus, for the entire month of October, they are 25% off. Check them out here. http://www.thehealingconsciousness.com/node/114
